Don’t Do It

Exodus 14:13-14

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still,
and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day:
for the Egyptians whom ye have see to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Fight or flight, we have all heard it.  Perhaps you have been in a situation where you have done one or the other.  These two options are brought on by fear.  The animal kingdom survives this way.  As Christians, I’m glad we have an alternative.  We can trust God.  Notice what Moses told the children of Israel at a very fearful time.

  1. Don’t Fear“Fear ye not.”
We do not have to be the prisoner of fear, no matter what the situation is.  God is greater than any thing we will face.  Through Christ, we are overcomers.
  2. Don’t Flee.  “stand still”
It is interesting to note that the children of Israel could not do anything but stand still.  They had nowhere to run.  They were geographically trapped.  Egypt was blocking their only way out.  That’s what God wants us to do.  Stand still, don’t run away.  Allow Him the time to work a miracle in your life.  Truly, it is our only option.
  3. Don’t Fight“The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”  Honestly, this is the hardest one for me.  Instinctively, I want to fight my way out of trouble.  Usually, this mentality is what got me into trouble in the first place.  We all need to remember that we have a Champion that wants to fight our battles for us.  By the way, He is undefeated.  Praise the Lord!

Before Moses gave this wonderful message to them, the children of Israel blamed him, complained about their predicament, and wished they had never been liberated from their bondage.  God ignored all of that and delivered them anyway.  He is a God of grace.  Fast forward to verse 31.  Israel saw what God did, feared the Lord, and believed Him.  When we give God time, we give Him a chance to work a miracle in our lives.  I desire to see the power of God at work in my life and live in such a way that others will fear Him and believe Him.
