Romans 4:1-8
What a tremendous blessing it is to know that you are forgiven. When you accepted Christ as your Savior, you were forgiven immediately of your sin. God forgave you completely and forever. As Romans 8:1 teaches, there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. We are now the children of God with a secure home in Heaven, because Jesus paid our sin debt with His sacrificial death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead. Here are some lyrics that I wrote many years ago describing the joyful event of my salvation.
Just a poor wretched beggar, no good in me you’d find
I was helpless and hopeless and going out of my mind
I stood before Him guilty with no argument or plea
Waiting for His judgment, I heard Him say so tenderly
My child, you are forgiven, your sin debt has been paid
For the blood of Jesus has washed it all away
A new life you are given, free from fear, guilt, and shame
Since you have been forgiven, you are no longer the same
Oh, the joy of that moment I will never forget
My rags turned to riches when my Savior I met
He took away my burden, saved my soul, and set me free
I will never get over these words He said to me
My child, you are forgiven, your sin debt has been paid
For the blood of Jesus has washed it all away
A new life you are given, free from fear, guilt, and shame
Since you have been forgiven, you are no longer the same
