I’ll Praise His Name

Psalm 145:1-5

One of the things that stands out to me the most when reading the book of Psalms is David’s determination to praise the Lord. Over and over again he says, “I will praise”. The next time you read through this wonderful book, make a note of all the times you notice his conscious decision to praise God. I believe we should praise God on purpose, and if we determine to praise Him, we will praise Him more and more.

I had nothing to offer and He had nothing to gain
I was forsaken, rejected, still He chose to claim
This filthy old sinner full of guilt and shame
He made me His child, so I’ll praise His name

I’ll praise His name as long as I breathe
I’ll praise His name as long as my heart beats
His grace is so amazing, I’ll forever proclaim
I’m a child of the King, so I’ll praise His name

I’ll serve Him with gladness, I owe Him everything
He gave me new life to live abundantly
He set me free, He broke my chains
Now I am His child, so I’ll praise his name

I’ll praise His name as long as I breathe
I’ll praise His name as long as my heart beats
His grace is so amazing, I’ll forever proclaim
I’m a child of the King, so I’ll praise his name
