John 6:12
The account of Jesus feeding the multitude in John 6 has inspired countless sermons, lessons, and devotions throughout the years of the church. One day while reading this passage, I was captivated by the Savior’s words in verse 12, “Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost”. My mind went immediately to my salvation experience and these lyrics came to me. I hope you are blessed by them.
The devil is a master at destroying lives
He seduces then uses people in their prime
When they have nothing left but heartache and pain
He throws them on a pile of fragments that remain
Fragments that remain, left over by the crowd
Fragments that remain with no value to be found
Discarded and forgotten, never to be the same
But Jesus bled and died for the fragments that remain
I too was thrown away on the garbage heap of sin
I had nothing to offer in the shape I was in
I was ruined and broken, left alone in my pain
But Jesus bled and died for the fragments that remain
The devil thought he had me broken and abused
He had gained another lost soul he had confused
But Jesus heard me crying and saw me in my pain
(OH, I AM SO THANKFUL)
Jesus saves and He restores the fragments that remain
Fragments that remain, made new by the Savior’s hand
Fragments that remain, never to be trash again
Now I serve the King of Kings, Oh, praise His holy name
All because Jesus will save the fragments that remain
